Special Olympics Cycling is Coming back! - Tuesday, July 08, 2008

Join us in being part of somehting special that you will remember fondly for a long time. We are seeking prople with a desire to share the sport of cycling and friendship to learn to be a coach for the area special olympic athletes. Here is the info from Nicole who is the area rep.

Hey Guys. I hope this info finds everyone doing well. We finish our Midsummer Sports in a couple of weeks and it will soon be time to start planning for our fall cycling season.  I thought I would email all of our coaches and see who would like to help/be available for our second season. Practice times/places would be determined by your schedules of availability.  It looks like we will have even more athletes this year and have managed to get a couple of bikes donated. Alex will be returning to go for the gold this year; FaFa is still undecided although we hope he will return. We have a few guys who are new to the sport and are excited to give it a shot and for the first time we have a couple of ladies interested in joining the team.

SONC has released dates for our qualifier: We get to pick which date works best:
Qualifier #1 Sept 20, Qualifier # 2 Sept 27 If for some reason those get rained out the make-up date is Oct 4. Fall Games is set for Nov 7-9.

If you can be of assistance during any of the season please let me know. I look forward to hearing from you guys.

Coaches Corner - Sunday, January 20, 2008

Greg Combs has been and continues to write articles for numerous media outlets such as USA Cycling. This is an excerpt from the latest. Please click more info for the whole article.

The most common reason people contact me for rider positioning is to address dis-comfort on the bike. Recently, three clients complained of discomfort with their feet. Since the foot is the contact point with the cycling pedal, problems with the foot are not uncommon to cyclists. Fortunately, most problems are fixable.
